![]() ![]() ![]() I'm making my first mode in Blender now, and it's already starting to freeze and lag horribly. I hate this program but there's literally no other option for making extremely detailed models. I shouldn't have to worry about whether a $900+ program will save my files properly or even open and let me use it. I'm honestly dreading having to try and download it again. Why is this program so fucking broken? How do I stop files from magically vanishing and breaking everything? What did I do wrong? I've literally never had so many issues just simply trying to install and use a program. I wasn't trying to save anything, I was literally just clicking on the Zbrush 2022.0.5 icon on my desktop to open the program.īut hey, in the end I didn't even need to cancel my subscription, because the payments weren't even going through anyways! Every month I had to deal with Maxon/the credit card company because I don't know why. It gave me FOUR pop ups telling me "Unable to Save File" before showing me a different error saying "FILE ERROR". And then I couldn't even open Zbrush at all. Tried to open my file from earlier again but more errors. I opened it, for some reason my custom UI was still installed after uninstalling/deleting everything. Reinstalled, this time to main computer instead of SSD, and this time the Maxon app worked. Something about the virus protection blocking things, so I just manually deleted the rest of the Zbrush folders I saw. I tried to uninstall it from my SSD but surprise, more errors. For some reason refused to let me take screenshots of errors. Tried to open the file from the "Recent Files" area, Zbrush wouldn't open it. Went into my Windows virus protection whatever and told it to leave the Zbrush app alone. I saved it on my desktop and it was gone, couldn't find it on my desktop or anywhere else on my PC. Opened it again later and when I tried to save it I got a shitload of errors and then the file completely vanished. I did a bit of work and played around a bit before saving my file as a ZPR. Downloaded the files from the website instead and installed it to my SSD because I have barely any space left on my main computer. Tried again and it didn't give me an error but nothing happened. ![]() Tried to install it via the Maxon app, it immediately gave me an error. It took me three days to manage getting a subscription to this program (kept getting payment errors for no reason) but I finally got it. I DID have Zbrush for a time but there were some HUGE fucking issues: My models will be separated into different parts (body, teeth, claws, gums/tongue, etc.), do I just UV unwrap each individual part and make a low poly and high poly version for each of them? And then bake maps/textures for each part?Īnd yes, I know I don't need to start out in Blender and I can just model from scratch in Zbrush, but the UI is absolute dogshit and I want to spend as little time there as possible. and use geometry nodes to attach them to the model? Would I then send the high-poly version into Substance Painter to bake displacement maps, emissive maps, etc.? And then texture the model? I've heard of triangulating the mesh in one program so that it will line up properly between other programs, at what step do I do that?Īnd then in Blender I can import the different maps, textures, etc. I'm going to go as far as I can with modeling/sculpting in Blender, and then open the file in Zbrush to add alphas and more details.ĭo I turn that high-poly sculpt from Zbrush into a lower resolution version, import it into Blender, and then do all of the retopo, UV unwrapping and UDIM creation? I know I should use decimation master to lower the polycount, would I also use that to lower the resolution enough that I can get it into Blender? Substance Painter - Texturing the model, baking?.Zbrush - Adding detail to the sculpt (scales, wrinkles, pores, skin folds, etc.).Blender - Poly modeling a base mesh, retopology, UV unwrapping, rendering, feathers/fur/hair, rigging, animation.I'm worried I'm going to do something in the wrong order and have to start from scratch because I destroyed something. I'm planning on using Blender, Zbrush and Substance Painter but I'm really confused about what the best workflow is. They don't need to be optimized for video games. Hello! I'm trying to figure out the best way to go about 3D modeling characters to use for renders, animations and 3D printing. ![]()
